What happens when you lock it.

  1. Set a time

From 5 minutes to 24 hours – with the slider or a single tap: 15 min, 30 min, 1 h, 2 h. You see exactly when it ends.

  2. Slide and lock

Apps lock. Every one of them, with no list of exceptions.

  3. The web and internet switch off

Detoxer turns on a VPN that lives only inside your phone and drops the traffic. It sends nothing anywhere and has no server.

  4. Calls get through

Calls keep working, emergency calls always. Everything else waits.

  5. Hold on

In the app, you can’t end the detox early. The only exception is your guardian’s code. When time is up, the phone unlocks by itself.

On your own, or with a guardian.

The apps on your phone are built to keep you in. Detoxer gives you a stretch of time when they can’t.

Detox

You lock your phone for as long as you choose. And you can’t end it early in the app.

An evening without scrolling, focused work, sleep. You decide – in advance.

  • Set anything from 5 minutes to 24 hours, or schedule your evenings, sleep or work.
  • Every finished detox grows your island and earns you badges.

Detox with a guardian

You don’t hold the key to your detox – someone you trust does. Only their code can end it early.

When you know a moment will come when you’ll want out. Without their code, you’re not getting back in.

  • Invite a partner, friend or parent with a link by text. They don’t need an account and can use iPhone or Android.
  • When you really need out, you ask them and say why. Only they can give you the 6-digit code.

Detoxer tracks nothing and sends nothing anywhere. No account, no analytics. Your data stays on your phone and in your own iCloud; we can't access it.

You set the limit.Your guardian holds the key.

The hardest moment of a detox is when you tell yourself “just for a minute”. That’s why you don’t hold the key – someone you trust does: a partner, a friend, a parent.

  1. Invite them with a link by text. Works between iPhone and Android, no account, no sign-up.

  2. When you really need out, you ask for help and say why.

  3. They decide. They send you a 6-digit code – the only thing that ends a detox early.

On iPhone, your guardian can also lock system settings, so the lock can’t be worked around there either. We never see or store the code.

Will you be my guardian? I want a phone-free evening.detoxer.eu/s#…

Sure, I’m in. I’ve got the key 🙂

I need out, my boss is calling about a shift.

Okay, here’s the code:

When you know you won’t trust yourself.

A detox on its own works because you set it up in advance. Most days, that’s enough. But there are moments when you already know you won’t trust yourself. That’s what a guardian is for: it’s not you who decides when the detox ends, but someone you trust.

  • Exam season

Your finals are in a week. Your flatmate holds the key for your evenings, and when you want “just a minute” at ten, you get “go study”.

  • Impulse shopping

On sale days you know you’d order half the store. Your sister gets the key for the weekend. By Sunday night the cart is empty and your account isn’t.

  • Friday with the crew

A few beers, bets on matches at 2 am, and a lot poorer by morning. Before you head out, you start a 12-hour detox and give your partner the key. At 2 am the phone won’t let you in, and you don’t get the code.

  • Texts you regret

Two drinks in, you feel the urge to text your ex. A friend gets the key for Friday night. In the morning, there’s nothing to explain.

  • A night without a screen

You fall asleep at two because of “one more video”. A detox from 11 pm to 7 am, key with your partner. You wake up without a phone in your hand.

  • Friday deadline

Your project is due Friday. A colleague holds the key for your morning blocks. Three hours without notifications and the work gets done sooner.

  • Holiday

You promised your family a week without work. Your partner gets the key. Calls get through, emails wait until Monday.

If you feel gambling is getting out of hand, reach out to a professional.

Your island grows with every minute off screen.

Every finished detox is added to your island. Bare rock grows grass, a tree, a pond – and after a hundred hours, a waterfall. Then come the power plants, so the ones who hold on longest always have something ahead. Detoxes ended early don’t count.

FAQ

Can I end a detox early?

Not in the app. The only exception is your guardian’s code; otherwise the phone unlocks by itself when time is up.

What works during a detox?

Calls, including emergency calls. Other apps and the internet wait.

Do I need an account?

No. Download it, allow what your phone asks for, and start locking.

Can you see what I do on my phone?

No. The app has no analytics and no server of its own. Your history stays on your phone (on iPhone also in your own iCloud), and we can't access it. More in our privacy policy.

How does the guardian work?

You invite someone you trust with a link by text. When you need to end a detox early, they give you a 6-digit code.

How do I cancel?

In the App Store or Google Play. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.

Detoxer is not a medical or therapeutic tool. It’s a tool for consciously limiting your phone time. If you feel your phone use is more than you can manage on your own, talk to a professional.
